Mari Adachi is one of the leading violists in Japan.

She is now based in Tokyo, her hometown. She has been active as a soloist, a chamber musician and invited as a guest principal violist from several Japanese professional orchestras.


She has been educated as a classical musician in Tokyo, Vienna and Lausanne and worked as the associate principal violist at the Tirol Symphony Orchestra in Innsbruck since 2013 for 2 years. She is now very passionate making good music regardless of genre.

She has been joining Estonian Festival Orchestra directed by Paavo Järvi since 2016 and performing at Pärnu Music Festival, The Proms, the European tour, the Japan tour and the recording sessions. During the Japan Tour, she performed duo by Mozart with Midori for the Pre-Concerts.  

In 2019, she has performed piano trio with Ryuichi Sakamoto and the performance was broadcasted over NHK BS Premium. 

She is also a member of Ensemble FOVE. With its principles of experimentation and practice of boundary-expanding new art, the ensemble aims to deliver new auditory experiences.
